Video review : Internet Explorer Mobile 6 for Windows Mobile
November 12, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
We have tested it! Here is the first video review of the new Internet Explorer from Microsoft (Flash player required to watch it):
* YouTube works in full mode, i.e. with Flash - no need to use limited mobile version of YouTube
* rendering of websites is truly desktop-class
* Google Docs is working like in dekstop but unfortunately editing is impossible, only viewing - so not quite like a desktop after all
* JibJab is not working because it requires latest version of Flash (version 9) and this browser supports only some older version
Here is how this browser appears to servers in desktop mode (note: it's the same as if user would be running Windows PC with Internet Explorer 6):
... and here is how this browser appears to servers in mobile mode (some people prefer mobile version to watch more comfortably on small displays):
Conclusion: the new Internet Explorer Mobile 6 for Windows Mobile is extremely good and better than iPhone's Safari because it supports Flash and can render websites the same as desktop (for example in iPhone the CNN is website is visible only in mobile version, not in full desktop version). However, while one cannot expect from Microsoft using the latest Flash technology, it is dissapointing that one cannot edit documents in Google Docs, what contradicts Microsoft's claim that this browser has the very same rendering engine as the desktop version.
